The Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly (EKMA) has given an overwhelming endorsement to Hon. Kojo Acquah as confirmation of His Excellency the President’s nominee for the position of Municipal Chief Executive for the second term at a ceremony at Effiakuma. Hon. Acquah polled twenty (20) votes representing one hundred percent (100%) of the votes. His confirmation was greeted with wild jubilation by members of the Assembly, Regional and Constituency officials as well as members of the general public.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Kojo Acquah thanked His Excellency the President and Members of the Assembly for the confidence reposed in him by re-nominating him again. He further reiterated that his confirmation is a clear indication of unity and togetherness that prevails among the assembly and the citizenry’s acceptance of his administration, governance, and many laudable developmental projects and programs championed by the assembly to improve socio-economic living since July 2018.
He urged the general public to understand the idea of citizenship and the rights that come along with it by voicing out their concerns and participate in decisions that affect their welfare “because it is only in participation that we can hold public officials accountable and drive a democratic and socio-economic change”.
In a statement, the Western Regional Minister, Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah commended the Assembly members for endorsing the nominee and further said they have made his duty easy.
Dignitaries who were present to grace the occasion were the Western Regional Council of State Member, Hon. Alberta Cudjoe, the Member of Parliament for Kwesimintsim, Dr. Prince Hamid Armah, the Western Region Chairman of NPP, Mr. Francis Ndede Siah, the Regional Coordinating Director, Mr. Frederick Agyemang, the DCE Nominees for Tarkwa Nsueam and Mpohor, and a host of others.
