SIGNING OF M.O.U BETWEEN EKMA VEGETABLE FARMERS ASSOCIATION AND COMPLETE FARMER LTD The Department of Agriculture through the Municipal Director of Agriculture, EKMA on Wednesday, 9th March, 2022 facilitated the Signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between EKMA VEGETABLE FARMERS ASSOCIATION and COMPLETE FARMER Limited of No.3 Abease Street, East Legon, Greater Accra (an NGO that supports farmers technically to grow vegetables and other selected crops and buys the farm produce). The Objective of the MOU to have a common ground for the EKMA VEGETABLE FARMERS ASSOCIATION (Producers) and COMPLETE FARMER Limited (Off-takers) on what vegetable to produce and at what price to sell among other concerns. The MOU allowed each party to clearly state their intents and what they expect from one another.The Municipal Director of Agriculture (MDA) of EKMA, Mr. John Kwamina Gyimah in brief statement, told both parties that the MOU would help solve disputes if any such should arise. Mr. Gyimah added that the MOU had been prepared to provide a framework for the partner organizations to rule the relationships among them, based on mutual understanding and trust, with clear definition of concepts and roles and distribution of task and responsibilities. After his statement, both parties (EKMA VEGETABLE FARMERS ASSOCIATION and COMPLETE FARMER Limited) signed the MOU as shown in Plate 1 below, while the MDA signed as a witness on behalf of the Department of Agriculture and the entire Municipal Assembly. This exercise was done to link Vegetable farmers to off-takers and also in partial fulfilment of the Departments commitment to the achievement of the 2022 performance contract. In closing, the MDA thanked both parties for understanding to sign the document and promised to support them technically to further create jobs for the physically challenged, youth and women to enhance their incomes and living standards in the Municipality.
